TRAUMA ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking a Orthopedic Trauma surgeon who will have teaching, research and clinical service responsibilities on our Trauma service. Appointment is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor based on background and qualifications and may be either on the Clinical or Tenure Track, depending upon research interests and background. The University of Iowa is a level 1 trauma center and cares for severely injured patients from around the state. This is an outstanding opportunity to join our academic department and to be a part of our growing trauma service.


The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025.  This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services.  The facility has been designed to support a superior patient and staff experience; excellence across our patient care, teaching and research missions; convenient access to services; and engaging community partnerships.  The orthopedic trauma service will provide care to injured patients at this new facility as well as at the central Level 1 Trauma Center.  UI Health Care is seeking a welcoming, highly-skilled and collaborative workforce to be a part of the opening team for this superb new campus, and to help further our mission of: Changing Medicine. The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Sports Medicine Fellowship Trained physician to join our team of faculty as we expand our practice. This position involves outpatient care alongside the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation faculty within the Sports Medicine and Hand and Upper Extremity teams. This position will include management of patients with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders with a focus on the upper extremity and will have a significant emphasis on ultrasound guided procedures. This position will also have sports team coverage expectations.


This is an exciting opportunity for an academic-oriented physician with a variety of clinical interests. Clinical opportunities within the outpatient practice are broad, and can be developed around the candidate's interests, with possibilities for MSK, sports medicine, hand and upper extremity, orthobiologics, ultrasound, EMG, and other areas. This position also offers ample opportunities to participate in research and medical education.


This is a full-time position being offered at the tenure or clinical track level dependent upon the qualifications and goals of the individual.

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking an academic orthopedic oncologist to treat benign tumors, sarcoma, and metastic disease of the pelvis and extremities in patients of all ages. Additional areas of clinical interest are encouraged. Candidates should have an interest in clinical or basic science research. This is a full-time position and appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor on either the clinical track or tenure track dependent upon the qualifications and goals of the individual.
