The Mary Van Zee Award for Musculoskeletal Research
The Mary Van Zee Award for Musculoskeletal Research is presented annually to a current M1–M3 student at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. This award includes a $500 stipend and recognizes a student who has played a significant role in the design, implementation, and analysis of a completed research project. Abstracts will not be considered. Projects must be advised by faculty from the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.
This award is sponsored by the Iowa Orthopaedic Society.
The Michael Bonfiglio Award of Orthopedic Surgery
The Michael Bonfiglio Award in Orthopedic Surgery is presented annually to a senior medical student who has played a significant role in the design, implementation, and analysis of a completed research project. This award includes a $1,000 stipend, intended for the purchase of textbooks. Abstracts will not be considered. While projects are typically advised by a faculty member from the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, exceptions may be considered.
This award is sponsored by the Iowa Orthopaedic Society.
Award winners will present their research projects at a department conference and the Annual Iowa Orthopaedic Society meeting. They will also be recognized at graduation.
The deadline to submit for both awards is the first Friday in January.
